CIPS Level 4 Revision: Build a One-Page Module Summary
Turn a large CIPS Level 4 module into a clear one-page revision sheet, then use it to choose better practice questions and review gaps.
Long study guides are useful references, but they are not always useful revision tools. When a module feels too large to revisit, create a one-page map that shows how the ideas connect and what you still need to practise.
This is a revision method, not a replacement for the official CIPS material. CIPS describes the Level 4 Diploma as eight compulsory modules assessed through Objective Response and Constructed Response formats, so a useful summary should help you move from understanding to the type of practice each module requires.
Start with the module’s purpose
Write one sentence answering: “What work problem does this module help a procurement professional handle?” Keep the sentence in your own words. If you cannot write it clearly, mark the topic for another reading pass rather than filling the page with copied definitions.
Then add three short sections:

Organise the page around relationships
A list of terms is hard to recall because it does not show how the terms work together. Use arrows or short “because” statements instead:
- need → specification → market approach → evaluation → contract → relationship;
- information → analysis → decision → action → review;
- objective → evidence → trade-off → recommendation.
Use the relationship that fits the module. The point is to make the logic visible, not to force every module into one template.
Add a practice bridge
Reserve the bottom quarter of the page for practice. Write:
- two questions you should be able to answer without notes;
- one small scenario that would force you to choose between two reasonable actions;
- one constructed-response prompt you could answer with a clear introduction, linked points and a conclusion;
- the evidence that would show your answer is complete.
Do not copy answer keys into the summary. Use it to retrieve the reasoning, then check the result against your verified study material and the question explanation.
Use the sheet in short cycles
On the first day, make the sheet with your notes open. The next day, close the material and recreate as much as you can. Later in the week, use the sheet to choose targeted practice instead of restarting the entire module.
After practice, update only the section that failed you. If the same gap appears twice, turn it into a short question in your own words. If your score is acceptable but your explanation is vague, practise the explanation rather than simply doing more questions.
Keep the page honest
A one-page summary is successful when it makes the next action obvious. It is not successful when it becomes a smaller copy of the textbook. Remove repeated wording, keep definitions short, and mark any detail you have not verified.
